I think I will go chant tribal praise to your cult leader! Funny thing is, almost every single person I know, that gets paid 1099 or owns their own business, feels the same way I do. I mentioned that I dealt with you guys at the office tonight and they couldn't beleive it.

I guess lincoln was a racist and carter was a great leader and tim mveigh is a freedom fighter in bizarro world too.

You guys crack me up!

Maybe the Obama tax cut you get will make you feel a bit better. If not, donate it to the Rex Foundation or something.

Yes. we can't believe you deal with us either. It's funny, b/c you're the one who constantly hijacks threads about Grateful Dead music to spew your paranoid political views. No one here asked you to, that's for sure. Then, of course you always fall back on your non-sequitors:

I make a post about Giuliani and how I know several NYC firemen and cops who hate his living guts and have good reason to, and you respond with 'I guess Lincoln was a racist and Carter was a great leader"...which has nothing to do at all w/my post.

As I've mentioned before (and any high school student of history could tell you), today's GOP has NOTHING to do with the Republican leader Lincoln was...he would have despised today's GOP and all you "big government oughta get outta our hair" conservatives would have run him out of town on a rail.

Do you not recall from your history books that Lincoln's mission (actually accomplished unlike a certain sitting lame duck President) was to assert FEDERAL control over rogue states? That he did everything in his power to preserve the UNION of the United States under federal rule of law to save the country and to end the practice of slavery, which the south argued should be a question left only to the STATES? Sound familiar? Sound like today's GOP? Uh-huh, you betcha!

Using Lincoln as an example of why Republicans today are the better party would be funny if it wasn't so incredibly pathetic.

Hey, if you don't want to deal with us "liberal, socialist" lefties anymore, fine with us! Go back to your fear-mongering hordes of right-wingers who think Obama is secretly trying to take away your guns and don't forget to fortify your bomb shelters. No problem here.

But dude, if the best you can come up with in response to a comment about Giuliani and Romney is "i guess Lincoln was a racist", you need to bone up on your debating skills...which are currently about as enlightening and mature as "Drill baby Drill!"

When you make such unfounded and historically inaccurate claims, don't get mad when I compare them to conspiracy and fiction. It's not like you are saying, "I believe rasising taxes on capital gains and business is good for economic growth" or "so and so's policy was good because _____ " you just start with personal attacks on me and every other person with common sense.

I already explained a few things but here they are again.

If you look into it you will probably notice that I don't regularly hijack music threads, I respond to posts from you and others that are not true or exaggerated. I also do not try to say things that are so far from what is common knowledge that people would be like , "are you kidding?"

Examples would be saying carter was anything but the most pacifist and incompetent president in history, ignoring the accomplishments of reagan, trying to compare things like troopergate to a racist preacher and criminal professor who, surprize, could only get a free pass in chicago, manhattan or socal. Everyone else in the country puts him in the same category as tim mcveigh.

Since when are you against hijackers anyway?

Back to the point, whenever I give you proof of my position you blast me in stereotypical fashion and I bet you don't even consider anyone else's point of view. I gladly admit that bush is poor speaker and comes off like an idiot, palin's voice is annoying and mccain is old. Ever considered finding any fault in your own team? Ever admit that joe biden is the gaffmaster? Didn't get a chuckle out of all the idiotic stuff kerry said that I posted? I am not getting these things from some right wing hate website or something, this stuff is all public record. I know about cointelpro and watergate and do I defend them? Of course not! Hello! Are you getting any of this?

At least you're not trying to defend that little green football (grenade) about Lincoln.

It's because I missed it. I am fighting the wermacht on one side, the kamikazi's on the other and looking over my shoulder at the red army who's supposed to be on my side, so some stuff slips by!

Never trust the red army by the way.

I am not going to defend reagan or bash carter anymore, today, history is online.

If you're a jihadi, you'd better be steady.

Here's a story I also found in a movie, where it was supposedly a Zen story:

"In the heat of the battle, Imam Ali found himself straddling his enemy. A skilled and stealthy warrior, the fourth Caliph of Islam was always decisive in battle. Fighting only when the cause was just and necessary, he now held his sword high, ready to deliver the final blow.

Then came the great insult. The enemy, seeing his end was near, spit violently into Imam Ali’s face. The sword came down suddenly, not into the man’s heart, but back into its sheath. Imam Ali quickly got up and withdrew from the fight.

The spared combatant looked relieved and exasperated. Why had the great Ali let him live? I was fighting you for the sake of Allah, in the name of God, Imam Ali declared. When you spit in my face I felt anger rise up within me, he continued, and I realized that I was going to smite you, not in the name of justice, but out of revenge for your insult – that was something that I could not do."

Oh, yes sir! Indeed I am "getting it."

I've criticized many Democrats on these posts about a million times. Want me to do it again to prove I'm not just touting the "party line"? Here goes:

Gore had no one but himself to blame for losing to Bush in 2000. If he had spent 5 minutes campaigning in his own home state of TN, Florida would have been a footnote. I've had screaming fights w/Democrats who blamed me for voting for Nader in 2000 and somehow "costing Gore the election" (even tho' I don't live in Fla.) I fought back and called them whiners, which they were.

I never once made a post about Carter, so why do you keep bringing him up? I also think his comments about "Israeli apartheid" in regards to Palestinians are appalling and ridiculous.

You want to link Obama to terrorism b/c of your fear of Rev. Wright? Try this on for size: Sarah Palin's HUSBAND joined an Alaska secessionist movement whose leader said this: "The flames of hell cannot compare with the hatred I have for America. When I die I refuse to buried under the American flag." (True to his word, he was buried in Canada). Funny how it's such a scandal that Obama's Reverend says "Goddam America" and that's cause for outrage, but when the HUSBAND of the woman who would be VP joins a movement whose leader said those things, it's no big deal. Who's the hypocrite again?

Finally...I responded directly to what you had to say--and always pull out of your hat--about Lincoln, and you have nothing to say in response b/c you know you're wrong.

Trying to justify today's pathetic GOP with Lincoln as a Republican is just so ridiculous for the reasons I stated in the last post, and I don't need to repeat them. You consistently mock Democrats and make sarcastic comments about people who would vote for Obama (and as I've stated before, he is not my "savior" or even my first choice; only far better a choice than mccain/palin) then get all defensive when we fight back.

Oh, and how charitable to admit that Bush was a joke b/c he spoke funny and McCain is "old." Jeezus, if those were the actual problems I had w/either of those guys I wouldn't have a leg to stand on. Bush's policies over the past 8 years--and do i REALLY have to list them for you again? are what I object to, not the fact that he's an idiot who says things like "The children is our future" and is a national embarrassment due to the way he speaks.

AGAIN....my post had to do w/the fact that you consistently and wrongly point to Lincoln as an example of TODAY's Republican party being somehow more noble or competent that the Dems...NOT Carter, or even Obama....but you go off on that track because you don't like being proven wrong.

and AGAIN, if you need to hear from several hardworking, VERY American, red white and blue, country-first cops and firemen who despise Giuliani beyond words, I will happily let them know your thoughts on how he would make a great president.

Now respond with some completely irrelevant comment about Obama, Tim McVegh, and socialism. I can hardly wait.

Hey GC; to the degree Reagan gets WAY too much credit (Soviets finished themselves off way before the cowboy arrived; his tax plans were repealed immediately BUT the deregulation ethos stuck; he really blew it with Lebanon, Central American and the Iranians), I think that Carter suffers unduely. I do agree that some of the stuff coming out of his mouth of late is astounding, but having lived thru it, the 70s, he did some things right on the economy that saw the turn around that came in the 80s as a result...

None of my biz, but I do think that you guys are handling yourselves in a civil and relatively intelligent fashion in these little interactions (at least I hope you aren't all too bent out of shape by it)...I enjoy reading them now and again.

Not sure why I got involved here--lost my train of thought; I will say that as far as the "bad guys" of the world coming to get us, I think that the Saddams and the Khadfis are/were the least of our worries. Tyrants of those sorts have too much to deal with on the local front...and, I would also say Israel can take care of herself. On the other hand, anyone that can discuss Nyquist Frequency coherently, and tries this hard probably has something to offer...

always appreciate your thoughtful comments, WT....as well as your suggestions for late 60's Dead!

I'll try to re-asses some of my feelings about Carter. I think he may have meant well (and was certainly hurt by the hostage debacle in 1979) but I really was disappointed with his recent comments essentially blaming Israel for everything wrong w/the Palestinian conflict.

Suicide bombers and never-ending rocket attacks into N.Israel by Hezbollah continue to affect the situation there, and Carter seems to downplay that.

I just have never been able to believe the georgia jc after he witnessed the six foot rabbit while fishing...that was just too much...and even if you do see a six foot rabbit, you don't tell it to newsweek...or really, anyone for that matter...

but if you lived through the 70's and you hear the energy cries of today you just sit and wonder: "didn't we go through this once..."

hopefully we get it right the second time and it doesn't take a third...
